56th Grammy's: Best Dressed

The Grammys red carpet is the place to look for all the greatest styles in fashion, and the 56th Grammys did not disappoint. The best dressed stars let their natural beauty shine in neutrals, stunning textures, and colors.

Neutral Starlets

Katy Perry’s dress reminded me of her newest album--Unique, Whimsical, and Vulnerable. The California dreamer wore a cream-colored, silk tulle Valentino dress from the 2014 spring collection. From the sheer flowing fabric to the music note embellishment, Katy looked truly inspiring on the red carpet.

Taylor swift’s style is known for its flattering fits, modesty, and class. Taylor’s dress embodied it all. The figure-fitting, short sleeved dress with crystal mesh overlay by Gucci Premiere, was a classic sense of sexy with a slit in the back.

Queen B reigned supreme in a sheer, floral gown by Michael Costello. It hugged her legendary curves with a sense of class and made the Grammy viewers "drunk in love". BeyoncĂ© was said to wear over 10 MILLION DOLLARS in diamonds!!!  I guess she just woke up like this.

Chrissy Tiegen, the love of singer John Legend, wore a jaw dropping gown by Johanna Johnson. The strapless number with a “V” cut on the top and a slit to flash some leg, made Chrissy the perfect arm candy for Legend.

Celebs in Color

Miranda Lambert showed off her sexy new bod with a red gown by Pamella Roland. The plunging neckline and paneling under the bust accentuated her elegant figure, and had photographers doing double takes. This Country star made our Music City proud!

Rita Ora’s dress was the eye candy of the red carpet. The ethereal green and lavender iridescent stunner by Lanvin hugged her curves and played on her unique sense of style.  From head to toe Rita Ora really embodied the look Grammy viewers crave.

Colbie Caillat and her asymmetrical beauty by Ezra Santos showed that fashion can truly be an art. The red vermillion halter, sheer plunging back, and cross body cut-out was bold and flattering to the California Native.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis not only rocked the show with their performance and their 4 Grammy wins, but they turned heads on the red carpet. It’s rare that men steal the show on the red carpet, but with emerald velvet and hounds tooth tailored suits, this dynamic duo join the best dressed list.

Style Theology

The foundation of great style is a healthy style theology.
“I just need to lose a few more pounds.”
“When I get to a size ‘x’ I’ll come back and shop.”
Time and time again I’ve heard these comments in our stores. So many women keep their eyes on the scale or on their pant size, that all they see when they look in the mirror are numbers and pounds.
This kind of misguided, weight-focused thought makes style the reward to reaching that weight goal or ideal pant size. With this mindset you continuously live your life on a scale while chasing an ever-changing number. And even if the goal is reached, more than likely you will still see things that you don’t like about the shape of your body, and ultimately you remain in a vicious cycle of “just a few more pounds and then I’ll shop.”
But it’s time for a new style theology!!
Embrace where you are now and enjoy and utilize the tool that fashion was intended to be. When you love yourself and love your style in a way that embraces your body, you will be satisfied and confident in your skin at every stage of your life. So don’t wait to feel good in the skin that you’re in!
Step off the scale and slip into some shoes that make you walk a little taller! We are all uniquely beautiful and it’s about time we show and embrace it!

Even Queen B thinks so.
“Pretty Hurts”
‘Shine the light on whatever is worse
Perfection is a disease of a nation
Pretty Hurts
Try to fix something
But you can’t fix what you can’t see
it’s the soul the needs the surgery’
